Antares, an elegant 411, is a true gem carefully preserved over the years. Since 1996, its first owner has provided meticulous attention, ensuring exemplary maintenance. Today, under the attentive care of its new owner, Antares benefits from rigorous upkeep and a series of improvements made right after the acquisition, reflecting a total commitment to its excellence.
Over the years, Antares has braved the elements, sailing under both azure skies and rough weather. Its former owners passionately explored the southern coast, the canal ports, the Bay of Biscay, as well as numerous stops in Portugal. In 2019, it undertook an impressive journey from Inverness through the Caledonian Canal to Belfast and Dublin, before reaching Fowey in Cornwall and finally the marina at Portland. Loyal and robust, Antares has never faltered, and its unique charm perfectly aligns with the prestigious history of Sparkman & Stephens Swan yachts. Currently moored at Royal Clarence Marina, it has offered its owner magnificent getaways along the southern coast, west of England, and to the Channel Islands during the last two summers.
Since May 2021, the care given to Antares has reached new heights with a series of meticulous work and technical improvements: all through-hulls have been replaced with Blakes models, shore power has been installed, and the hot water tank and refrigerator have been renewed. The marine toilet has been changed, while the genoa and main sheet winches have been replaced with high-performance ST gear. A Lewmar electric windlass and a 60-meter anchor chain have been added to enhance safety and comfort. The cabin windows have been replaced, along with the mainsail cover, rudder cover, and the cockpit cover, now made of elegant grey canvas. New guardrail cables have been installed, the batteries replaced, and a Victron charger added for better energy management. The cockpit enjoys a well-maintained heating system, while all red straps have been renewed, and a new liferaft and an outboard motor further enhance safety equipment. A new 3D tender has been launched, the diesel tank emptied and cleaned in 2023, and the copper coating completed the same year. Furthermore, the engine benefits from annual professional maintenance, ensuring optimal performance.
Antares is not just a sailboat: it is a travel companion, a living testament to a passion for the sea, maintained with rare love and craftsmanship.
